Voice Tone: Has a slight southern twang to it, but it's not heavy like Applejack's. Think, refined southern belle....or Rogue from the original X-Men cartoons.
Bio (optional) : Born in Cloudsdale to two wather ponies, Aurora grew up around the weather and learned about it, though she didn't often pay much attention. She took to art and painting whatever came to mind, which was often sunsets and sunrises, as they were her favorite, though she often painted night scenes as well. Her parents tried to keep her in at night, but no matter what, she was always outside at night and seeing she was at least close to home, they soon just let her enjoy the night so long as she didn't let it affect her school days.
One night when she was painting a night scene, something appeared in the sky. It was a thin strip of green 'mist', but then some red was mixed in. Leaving her easel and paints behind, she flew to where it was and saw they were lights of some kind. She reached a hoof out and touched it, seeing that it followed her hoof. She giggled and began to fly with the lights, seeing they followed her and spread out more and changed colors. She made the lights dance across the sky for hours before she had to rest and when she reached her cloud, there was Princess Celestia...admiring her painting.
The princess had watched Aurora with the northern lights and saw they seemed to react better for the young filly than with herself. The Princess asked if she'd like to take over the duty of the northern lights and make them 'dance' at night. She was so excited that she pounced the princess in a hug. After packing up her painting supplies, she returned home with the Princess so she could explain to Aurora's parents, who were surprised, but were accepting of this position for their daughter and couldn't be prouder. Celestia gave Aurora two silver bracelets to wear and when she 'clapped' them together three times, the northern lights would come to her, but they would only work at night.
A few weeks after she started her new 'job', she found out how much joy she got from it and during the day had often heard some of her fellow class mates talking about the light ribbons in the sky, to which she corrected them, saying they were the northern lights. When asked how she knew what they were, she told them, but they didn't believe her.
"Fine then! Meet me tonight and I'll prove to you!" she said and flew off.
That night, her friends had come to an open meadow where the lights would be seen earler. She had watched them come and waited. When it came time for her, she heard one of the non-believers speak up, saying that it was just a lie. Aurora fluffed out her wings and flew up into the sky and clapping the bracelets together, a oft chiming sound was heard and the lights came. Soaring in the sky in an intricate dance, she made the northern lights dance across the sky and thenshe soared to the ground where the others were watching.
"Now do you believe me?" she asked as she smirked.
The others were shocked and the dropped jaws and wide eyes were all the answer she needed, but then one pointed to her flank and she looked to see the stars on her flank. She was so excited about it that she soared off home to show her parents. They were happy for her and watched as she soared off once more into the sky. That morning, before the sun was to rise, she met Celestia to show her the cutie mark, to which the princess was impressed and asked how she got it. She was a bit hesitant to say, but she told and waited to hear what the princess would say. Celestia chuckled and patted the filly on the head and smiled, saying it was because she was proud of her 'gift' and wanted to stand by it. She then shooed the filly off to get sleep.
The years passed and Aurora kept up her job of tending the northern lights at night and once she had gotten out of school, she moved to Canterlot to open up an art studio that would be a showcase for her paintings but to also sell her paintings. She made duplicates of her work, aways keep the originals for herself. The night is still her favorite and she hopes to one day find someone who loves the night as much as her.
