It was pointless to argue anymore. The boxes were packed and moved, the home that she lived in her entire life was as empty as a tomb and just as scary. The fighting with her mother and father over the move did little to settle herself, and in fact just made things worse. Not only did she feel the heartbreak of leaving her home, but now she felt the guilt over being such a pain about the whole situation. Crying to her mother, shouting at her father, and just ignoring her brother. The snows isolated them enough, but now she was pulling from her only family.
It was with a heavy heart and slumped back that the snowy mare entered the new home within Ponyville. It was small, cramped, and lacked the warmth and glow that the old house used to possess. Luckily it was off the sides of the main center of town, so she wouldn't have to deal with nosy ponies. The family sign was hung above the door, a colorful snowflake with a shovel and plow placed along either side of it. Why her father thought a move to a city that lacked long winters would help the business she had no idea.
Her boxes were dumped carelessly within her room to be unpacked at a later day. The sun was creeping low along the horizon, and from her window she could see that the ponies were trotting home for the night.
"About time.." She mummered, moving down to the main room of her home, pushing past her brother who just grunted and glared at her. In old habit, the snowy mare plucked her white fluffy and sparkle scarf from the peg door side and wrapped it around her neck, as she did every time she ever left her old home. Upon opening the door, her features faltered at the warmth spreading over her. With a near twitch, she lowered her head and let the scarf slide away from her thicker neck, a pile of fluffy yarn resting at the doorstep now.
Wrapping her larger wings close to her body, Flurry slowly left the empty home that wasn't her home, into a town that wasn't her town, and into the night that just didn't feel right.

In the streets of Ponyville, Guiding Light was returning home from a friend's house. The two were exchanging the candy they collected from Nightmare Night and now it was getting late. As he passed by the houses, he saw a snowy white pegasus. She had look of being confused, like she was new. There was only one way to find out. "Hello," Guiding said cheerfully as he approached, "My name is Guiding Light. What's your name?"

Oh wonderful, her chance at a evening alone just trying to get her footing was shattered by a tiny little voice in the night. Her shoulders slumped low as her noggin bent down to grip at the scarf that laid dejected at her feet, plucking it within her teeth to toss it back over her shoulder then into the still open door. With two steps forward, she let the double barn door slam behind her.
Hoping that would be enough of a hint for the little one to scoot along, the waited and let a brow arch. First off, it was just a foal, and he was far too young to be out on his own. Or was this one of those towns where no pony locked there door at night. With a sigh and a half hearted grumble, the snowy pony took a step off the stoop to her home. Maybe her silence would get her point across....

Guiding Light stood in amazement as the pony just turned and reentered her house. Maybe she forgot something Guiding thought. He couldn't believe that the pony didn't see or hear him. Sure, he was just a foal, but he wasn't that small, was he?
Then he realized: the dark! Maybe the pony couldn't see him in the dark. Guiding Light was accustomed to walking in the dark, even without his light magic. Maybe this new pony was from a place where there were lots of lights like Canterlot or Manehattan.
He decided to try again, persistance seemed to be his strong quality. As the white pegasus left her house for the second time, Guiding Light used his magic to create a ball of light that illuminated a large circle around him. "Hi there! Are you new to Ponyville?"

Apparently her brazen act of trying to ignore the little foal didn't reach the nugget. Maybe his brain wasn't developed enough or the pony's here just didn't know how to take a hint. With a slight huff she took the remaining steps off the stoop of her new home and walked onto the soft grass beneath her hooves. It felt so strange to her, not hearing the cold bitter crunching of snow beneath her stride. The air was warm and welcoming, and she just couldn't stand any of it.
The little colt was now putting on a light show, something Flurry of course wasn't used to at all. Back in Coltlaska it was her family and -maybe- three or four others. All earth ponies with one or two peggis. No unicorns or magic users at all. With a snort she came to stand just a few feet in front of the little colt.
"Yes." Her answer was short, cold, and to the point. The poor little colt could almost feel the bitter chill to her words as she stood there, waiting for him to move along and get out of her way, or to remain and bother her still.

Guiding light was taken aback at how cold this pony was to him. This was new. Most ponies in Ponyville were friendly and helpful. Even when there were times that a pony was upset, it usually didn't last for long. "Cool! Well do you need any help finding your way in Ponyville? I've lived here all my life."

"Well thats good for you. I dont need help.." Flurry stated clear as day as she moved past the little colt, a bit of a spring in her step before she paused. "Thanks anyways..." She added as an afterthought before leaning down to look at the smaller pony. he was probably put off by her additude, but she didnt need help. She waited this long to go outside to avoid other ponies, not be swarmed by one at her doorstep.
"So..I'll be going then..." The snow peggi muttered as she moved around Guiding Light, not really sure of just where she was going.

"Well... ok then," Guiding Light said with a sad tone. He tried his best to at least talk to the new pegasus, but he realized that it wasn't working. He found it very odd that a pony would want to be alone. He understood how some wanted quiet time, but this pegasus didn't look like she was doing anything that required quiet. He decided to try on final thing. "If you need somepony to help light your way, I'm there to help." True, he didn't want to show off, but this was the last thing he could think of.

Celestia knows why she was in Ponyville. Alas, her incessant thirst for historical knowledge had drawn her to this friendly town, albeit at such a late hour. Perhaps she'd need to find a place to stay for the night - it was far too late to try and fly back to Trottingham now. Sighing, the winged mare tried to keep her attention piqued, taking note of as much of the scenery as she could in the dark. It wasn't impossible to see through it - in fact, the sleepy village was quite serene at such an hour - which she was thankful for.
Trotting calmly past Sugarcube Corner, the grey pegasus couldn't help but notice a snowy mare and what looked like a foal? What in Equestria was he doing out this late? Curious, Archaic wandered over to the pair, unsure of whatever conversation may have been taking place before her subtle entrance.
"Um, excuse me?" She inquired, keeping a little distance just in case she was wandering into anything unfriendly. It wasn't very likely, since one of the others was only young, but you couldn't be too careful. "I hope I'm not intruding, but is everything okay over here? It's quite late - I wasn't expecting to see anypony else out at this hour."

With a slight snort the snowy pony had to glance upward above her head just to make sure some unicorn didn't cast a spell to have a massive arrow pointing down at her with the words 'NEW' flashing over it.Upon seeing that indeed there was no spell above her head, she could only slump her shoulders a bit more before stopping her forward movement.
The snowy mare turned her attention over then to the new comer, her head canting just so. So pony's didn't come out at night now? Back in Coltlaska where six months were light, and six months were darkness, she was so used to the night that it didn't occur to her that normal ponies would be tucked into bed.
"Everything is fine...and its not that late. I was taking a walk and ...this little colt found me. " Flurry mummered before tossing her blue and silver mane back over her shoulder. This was getting irritating.

Guiding Light realized that there was another pony who had stopped by. Was she new too? She was at least new to him. "Oh everything's ok. I was just returning home and saw this pegasus here who looked lost, so I just wanted to say hi and see if she needed help. And the night doesn't bother me, as it allows me to practice my light spells."

"Oh! That's good, then~" Laughed the pegasus, smiling softly towards the both of them. Seemed like things were okay here. A new pony in town was always intriguing, though - not that Arc had even met the young foal before her, let alone the snowy mare, but still. Glancing them both over, she couldn't help but spare a moment to think about how strange this little gathering was. Three ponies, all with separate lives and separate thoughts, whose paths had seemingly randomly crossed at this particular time and place. There was no meaning behind it, and yet here they were.
Blinking, the mare brought herself from her own thoughts, concentrating on the pair again. "What may I call you both?" She asked, her wings twitching slightly. Ah, that flight had irked her muscles slightly. Perhaps she should stick to the ground, if only for a little while.

It took all of the white mares self control not to bristle up like a cat at the nosey ponies circling her like hungry sharks. All she wanted was a quiet walk alone, to see the town for herself before the floods of bright eyed ponies assaulted her from day to day. She knew well enough that in a small town like this almost every pony knew the other, so her being new would spread quick. Her mother and father would love it of course, make new friends and settle just fine.
"Flurry." She replied, trying to keep the chill from her voice as much as possible but it was difficult. This wasnt her home and she was certain it wouldnt ever be.

What a fortunate night! Now Guiding Light was meeting not one but two new ponies. It seemed the snowy pegasus was still a bit apprehensive toward him but maybe she just wasn't used to being around other ponies. He decided to spend some time talking with the new pony. "I'm Guiding Light. I haven't seen you around Ponyville before. Are you new too?"

The pegasus laughed softly at the foal's question, gently tapping a hoof against the ground as she looked for the words to answer. She liked to think before speaking.
"Oh no, I'm not ne- Actually, well. I don't live in Ponyville, which means I'm just visiting, so I suppose it's not unusual that you might not have spotted me, but I know the area." She replied quickly, explanation slightly rambled but there... sort of. Realising her slightly askew speech patterns, the pegasus laughed again. "Did that even make sense?"
Glancing her attention over to Flurry, Arc couldn't help but notice how uncomfortable she seemed. Granted, had Guiding Light not been there, the grey pegasus may not have wandered over and cramped up the other mare. But her curiosity had gotten the better of her this night. Hopefully her nerves, if it was nerves, would soothe soon... and if it was something else that was bothering her, no doubt they would be told through some manner or another. Even if it was just a "go away, I'm busy".
