(A little insight into Guiding Light's mind)
It had been more than a year since Nightmare Moon returned and threatened to plunge Equestria in eternal night. Guiding Light was there with his other classmates during the Summer Sun Celebration when the Mare in the Moon appeared. He remembered the ponies scattering in fear. He remembered using his light magic to get some of his friends to safety. He remembered hearing that nightmare Moon was defeated, and as an added joy, Princess Luna had returned!
Yet with all that he knew, just about every night Guiding Light had the same nightmare of Nightmare Moon. It always started out where he was standing in the Town Square of Ponyville at night. All the ponies were sleeping, and most of the lights in the homes and businesses were out. Why he was out there he never knew. Then suddenly a wind began to blow and there was a laughter heard around him, not cheerful, but evil.
Suddenly a dark mist appeared and formed into the wicked mare herself, Nightmare Moon. The creature of the night stared at Guiding Light with her glowing eyes as a preadator eyeing its prey. "W...what do you want," Guiding said in a frightened tone. "Oh, it that any way to treat royalty," Nightmare Moon said with a chuckle, "I am here for you, Guiding Light. Your light magic sickens me! It reminds me of that goody two hooves Princess Celestia and her precious sun! Well if I am going to have my endless night, I'm going to have to extinguish your light, forever!"
With that Guiding Light breaks into a run, trying to get away from Nightmare Moon. He knows it is a futile attempt: he being just a foal and she being an alicorn of great power. It seems like he's running forever when suddenly he trips on a rock and plunges face first into the dirt. He then sees the form of Nightmare Moon standing over him with a wicked smile on her face. "And now say goodbye to your light and your life..."
...and then the nightmare ends, leaving Guiding Light whimpering and crying in terror. His psrents try to comfort him, trying to tell him that Nightmare Moon is gone and that it was just a dream. He knows this, yet the nightmare keeps occurring. Now everytime he goes out at night, he fears that maybe, just maybe, Nightmare Moon will be there, ready to extinguish his light.
